NotesAnne (my great aunt) was one of 4 children born to unwed parents, placed in Quarriers care and sent to Canada with 2 siblings in 1884. The 4th child arrived in Canada in 1891.

Anne was placed with the James Collins family in Beechburn, Ontario, near her 2 siblings, a sister (my grndmother) in Forrester Falls and a brother across the Ottawa River in Quebec. When Mary arrived in 1891, she too was again included in this family circle, and later married in Anne's home.

The three who arrived in 1884 were able to maintain contact during the young years. Anne grew up in Beechburg and married the son of a local and prominant family, Peter Condie, in June of 1898. Anne and Peter raised 4 children. Peter died about 1924 and Anne remarried at a time when all her children were grown. Travelling to the area, I was able to find people who knew Anne'd decendants. I was able to find and visit with her grand daughter now living in Smith Falls. The grand daughter had many recollections and pictures of her grandmother which she generously shared with me. Our phone calls and letters continue to flow. We've both appreciated finding family we never knew existed.

Anne died in 1945 and is buried next to her husband and children in the Beechburg cemetary.
